The authors discuss preliminary results from an obserational study of several medium distance rich clusters of galaxies. These results indicate a remarkable constancy of the faint end of the luminosity/mass function for dense, rich clusters over the last quarter of a Hubble time. This may place limits on the allowed efficacy of mergers in the evolution of cluster galaxies. In addition, the authors have also observed a range of morphological types of clusters in order to check on the possible environmental dependence of the dwarf galaxy population at a given redshift.
