Spectrometer measurements carried out aboard Prognoz 7 revealed a pronounced dumbbell-type anisotropy of superthermal electron distribution (in the 50-200 eV energy range) in the solar wind after the passage of a bow wave. Maximum temperatures of the anisotropic component of one million K were measured along the dumbbell axis from two directions. An exospheric origin is suggested for the anisotropic component.
