It is very important to correct the effect of ionospheric refraction on satellite time service. There are some techniques used for this purpose. One main method is "dual frequency method (DFM)", and the other is the ionosphere model method. The former one requires transmitting two carrier frequencies from satellite and there are much deviations for the latter one, so that it is still a problem to correct this error for single frequency receiver. The method, called "dual polarization technique", can solve this problem, and is presented in this paper. This method is based on the characteristic of dual refraction for ionosphere, i.e., a linear polarization wave propagating in ionosphere will be split up into two different components of circle polarization waves, one right-handed and the other left-handed. Since these two different kinds of waves propagate with different velocities in the ionosphere, the time delay for propagation is different. Based on the difference of these time delay measured at the receiving point, the value for correcting the error of ionospheric refraction can be determined. It is very similar with the DFM.
