The paper presents new aperture synthesis observations of the head-tail radio galaxy 1638 + 538 (4C53.37) and discusses the implications of its structure with previous models. Attention is given to the Green Bank interferometer and new VLA observations which reveal the presence of curved radio jets which appear to stream outward on opposite sides of a nuclear source, similar to what is seen in other head-tails. A possible interpretation of the radio morphology, in terms of a plasma beam which flows at nonrelativistic bulk velocity, is discussed. Finally, possible mechanisms to produce the sharp transition between the jets and the extended tails are discussed.
