Using all available archival data from the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE), we study the kHz QPOs in three neutron star low mass X-ray binaries (LMXB); namely 4U 1636-536, 4U 1608-522, and 4U 1735-44. We focus on the quality factor (Q) and amplitude of the lower kHz QPO as a function of the centroid frequency. All of these sources share the following behavior: Q increases with frequency up to a maximum beyond which an abrupt drop of coherence is observed down to a limiting frequency where the QPO disappears. This track is fully reproducible within an object over several years. We suggest that this drop of coherence could be produced when the radius of the disk where the oscillations are generated reaches the Innermost Stable Circular Orbit (ISCO) around the neutron star.
