The plane doubly averaged elliptical restricted three-body problem is examined. A perturbing-function expansion is obtained, along with first integrals that make it possible to write the general solution in quadratures. A qualitative analysis is performed in the case where the first two terms in the perturbing function are taken into consideration. It is shown that there are trajectories for which the semimajor axis remains constant while the eccentricity tends to unity.
