A theory of double stimulated scattering (DSS) in an inhomogeneous isothermal magnetoplasma is developed with reference to the ionosphere. The power of the pump wave required for the excitation of DSS is determined along with the wave reflection coefficients as a function of the pump wave power. The optimal radiation geometry with respect to the directions of the density gradient and the magnetic field at which the DSS excitation threshold is at a minimum is determined for a model of the midlatitude F-layer.
