The approach adopted by the Fundamental Astronomy by Space Techniques (FAST) consortium for double star data reduction is described. It is to be applied in Hipparcos satellite data processing. The organization of the work by FAST is given. The double star recognition and the data processing is discussed. For a multiple star system, an imaging approach is developed. The steps required to find the parameters describing the double system, after data compression, are outlined.
