We present optical spectroscopy, using the 2.5m INT telescope, of the intermediate polar V795 Her and the polar AM Her. The Hα spectra of V795 Her cover about two binary cycles and the trailed spectra of Balmer line show, except for the typical double peaked emission profile, a weak S-wave component and a transient emission component which is visible only during the second cycle. The Doppler maps reveal the asymmetries caused in the emissivity-velocity map. The trailed spectra and Doppler maps of He I of the magnetic cataclysmic variable AM Her show a broad emission line from the accretion stream and a narrow emission from the heated hemisphere of the secondary.
