A fresh examination is given of the idea that substructure (especially binary subclustering) in clusters of galaxies contributes significantly to the binding energy, and that substructured clusters obey the virial theorem without the need to appeal to missing or hidden mass to balance the virial equation. In particular, the criticism of the binary model of Wesson and Lermann by Ozernoy and Reinhardt is replied to. In the case of the Coma cluster, it is re-proved that the binding energy of binary subclustering can remove most of the apparent virial discrepancy for that cluster without the need to appeal to missing mass.
