Lowell Observatory is pleased to announce the second year of our Predoctoral Fellowship Program. This program is designed to provide unique research opportunities to graduate students in good standing currently enrolled at Ph.D. granting institutions. Several projects are available now in collaboration with Lowell staff astronomers; we anticipate the availability of an increasing variety of projects over the next years as construction of our new 4.2 meter Discovery Channel Telescope and corresponding instrumentation progresses. Student research is expected to lead to the completion of a thesis dissertation appropriate for graduation at the doctoral level at the student's home institution. Current areas of research at Lowell include, but are not limited to: the nature and kinematics of icy bodies in the outer Solar System, searches for and characterization of extra-solar planets, low- and high-mass star formation, and dynamical studies of dwarf irregular galaxies.
