We propose to complete our survey (started 2009) for carbon chain molecules within hot molecular cores. The goal of the survey is to test new chemical models that explain the presence and evolution of cyanopolyynes in hot cores. In particular, we wish to determine whether the relative abundance of different species in this family of molecules may be used to provide a chemical clock for the evolutionary state of the hot core. The survey also covers other carbon chain molecules involved in these models and in other possible cyanopolyyne-producing chemistries, which will allow us to distinguish between these mechanisms. The data taken so far reveal some cyanopolyynes (HC5N) in 22 out of 35 cores surveyed. These data validate both our basic approach and the use of the new 7mm receiver for surveys. We request the time to finish the survey source list in order to obtain a full and unbiased sample.
