Detailed numerical simulations of the interaction between a galactic magnetic monopole halo and the galactic magnetic field show that a substantial galactic magnetic monopole abundance need not result in rapid decay of the galactic magnetic field. Various higher-order field decay processes can accommodate less stringent bounds than previously thought on the local monopole flux which are consistent with recent monopole searches.
