The delivery of complex computer systems for the Russian Service Module had many challenges when initiated, one being to procure the necessary complex EEE parts in a time frame compatible with the tight program schedule, the limited budget and the high visibility from our international partners. This paper is summarising the approach selected and the experience gained during procurement and integration. As a result we point out that one of the major key issues today in dealing with VLSIs is not so much the quality / reliability of the parts, but the application support and service level of the suppliers.
