A diurnal variation in the latitude of the position of the dayside cusp, amounting to about six deg, is noted in an examination of the properties of specific high-latitude pulsations. A method for determining the cusp position, based on a limited number of ground stations, is proposed; the systematic variation in position needs to be considered when analyzing the rapid shifts of the cusp caused by changes in magnetic activity.
