Scientific paper

The paper presents a theoretical study of the excitation of electric and magnetic field variations in a homogeneous unbounded plasma by a height-localized wave disturbance of neutral-gas velocity. It is shown that two types of disturbances arise in the plasma; and that magnetic field variations induced by these two types of disturbances are comparable in magnitude. Quasi-electrostatic disturbances of the second kind make the main contribution to electric field and current variations.
