Published studies on the measurement of the vertical distribution and morphology of NO in the atmosphere are reviewed. An analysis is then made of Intercosmos-Bolgaria-1300 UV-spectrometer data on dayglow spectra of NO in the gamma bands for different geomagnetic latitudes and solar zenith angles. The integral NO column density is found to range from 8 x 10 to the 13th to 3.7 x 10 to the 15th/sq cm for solar zenith angles ranging from 38 to 84 deg and for geomagnetic latitudes ranging from 37 to 75 deg.
