The ubiquitous 3/4 keV diffuse X-ray background shows little spatial variation far from the Galactic center and known "superbubble” regions. Away from the Galactic plane and > 90 degrees from the galactic center, about 50% of the observed emission is due to active galactic nuclei (AGN) resolved by Chandra and XMM Newton but not removed from the ROSAT all-sky survey maps. At low latitudes, there may be a significant stellar contribution near the Galactic plane. The rest is generally assumed to originate in a uniform Galactic halo at 2-3 million degrees, but there is little observational evidence for its distribution. We have used ROSAT survey data to study the shadows cast by nearby molecular clouds in Gould's Belt to learn more about the distance distribution of the Galactic component. The shadows in different lines of sight can be used to measure the amount of the observed flux that originates behind these clouds. We find that in most directions, at least 50% of the observed emission must originate within the 500 pc radius of Gould's Belt.
