Samples of ultramafic and eclogitic rocks, mainly from Norway and South Africa, and their constituent minerals, have been analysed for manganese, chromium, titanium and nickel by colorimetric methods. The distribution of these minor elements is mineralogically dependent. Regional and/or environmental differences are noted in the abundances of manganese and titanium, both being more abundant in the Norwegian than the South African ultramafic rocks. The distribution of chromium among the constituent minerals of garnet-peridotites also appears to have a regional and/or environmental character.
