Th dispersion and spatial correlation coefficient of the intensity of light reflected in a turbulent atmosphere are analyzed as a function of the observation-plane position with respect to the entrance pupil of the receiving telescope lens. It is shown that the amplification or attenuation of the intensity fluctuations in the lens image plane as compared with the lens plane is localized in a region limited in the longitudinal direction. These effects and the size of the localization plane depend on the receiving-system parameters and the initial coherence of the source field.
