BV photographic photometry and objective-prism spectral classifications for 601 B8-A0 stars in a 12.5 square-degree field centered on the metal-rich globular cluster NGC 5927 have been used to establish the distribution of stars and interstellar extinction toward the cluster. Differential absorption of up to 1 magnitude across the field is evident. An abrupt rise in the B8-A0 stellar space density to about 200 stars/10 exp 6 pc exp 3 begins at a distance of about 700 pc and persists to the limit of our survey at about 1200 pc. This probably corresponds to our line of sight crossing the Sagittarius arm. Interstellar reddening also begins to increase at about 700 pc, rising to E(B-V) about 0.5. This upper limit is consistent with estimates of the reddening of NGC 5927 (r about 8.8 kpc), suggesting that the bulk of the cluster reddening occurs within the first kpc along the line of sight. The number of B8-A0 stars seems to fall off rapidly at z about 100 pc, consistent with estimates of the disk scale height for bright stars.
