We have used the Very Long Baseline Array to measure the trigonometric parallax and proper motion of several young stars in the Taurus and Ophiuchus star-forming regions. These data were used to measure the mean distance, three-dimensional structure, and kinematics of Taurus and Ophiuchus with unprecedented accuracy. The high angular resolution ( 1 mas) radio images that were gathered for this project also reveal interesting new characteristics of these objects. Perhaps the most interesting such characteristic is the high detection rate ( 55%) of very tight binaries (with separations of a only few mas; 0.3 AU) in our sample. Selection effects almost certainly contribute to this high detected multiplicity rate, and will be discussed.
