The relationships between Balmer line width, inclination to the line of sight, and morphological class for 38 Seyfert 1 galaxies have been investigated. Only one set of parameters shows a strong correlation: the width of the Balmer lines in Seyfert 1 galaxies is related to the morphological class (i.e., disk structure) of these objects. This relationship seems to show continuity between spiral Seyfert galaxies and extended, broad-line radio galaxies ('N' radio galaxies), which suggests that some Seyfert galaxies may evolve into extended radio sources. The random relationship between the width of the Balmer lines and inclination to the line of sight of Seyfert galaxies suggests that the broadening mechanism for these lines is spherically symmetric.
