A large sample of disk stellar kinematics and abundance data is the key to trace the Galactic structure and evolution, especially for the mechanisms of disk formation and evolution. In this paper, a brief introduction of the whole properties of the Milky Way Galaxy is presented, and special attentions are given to the importance of above two tracers. A proper evaluation is given to the potential abilities of the LAMOST project to the study of the Galactic structure, disk formation and evolution.
