Neutron Stars: Accretion Disks, X-Ray Pulsars: Accretion Disks

It is generally believed that the interaction between accretion disks and neutron stars plays a significant role in the spin histories of X-ray pulsars. Since the field diffusion and generation rates in an accretion disk are very complicated and difficult to estimate, torque estimation in previous models based on the Faraday induction law is quite uncertain. The problem is investigated in this paper in a simple and direct way, and a more realistic expression of the disk torque is derived.
