Atomic Data: Hydrogen, Atomic Data: Helium, White Dwarfs: Magnetic Fields
Scientific paper
The authors present effective numerical algorithms based on discrete variable techniques and finite elements for solving the non-separable three-dimensional Schrödinger equation and a method for the solution of the two electron problem in a strong magnetic field, that combines the hyperspherical close coupling and the finite element method. As an example they present some atomic data for the hydrogen and the helium atom in external fields relevant for magnetic white dwarf stars.
