Stellar wind features and discrete absorption components (DAC) in
spectra of Beta Ori (B8Ia) were identified by comparing spectra obtained
at times of quite different mass loss. Recent observations provide data
on velocity-time dependence for DAC which are discussed in terms of the
applicability of the gas parcel model to late-B supergiants.
