In the present paper, the equations of motion of the nine planets of the solar system are integrated numerically under the assumption that the sun is a body whose ellipsoid of inertia is an ellipsoid of revolution with an oblateness of 5 x 10 to the minus fourth. It is found that the assumed value of oblateness provides a satisfactory agreement between the theories of motion of the superior planets and their observations. The discrepancies observed (numerically) for the Venusian and Martian secular motions of perihelion longitudes are minor and do not contradict the observations.
