The celestial sphere is divided into two hemispheres with the poles oriented toward the solar apex and antapex. The number of comets discovered in the (geocentric) Northern and Southern Hemispheres and whose orbital perihelia are located in each celestial hemisphere is tabulated. A very strong selection effect due to comet discovery is found such that somewhat more comets with perihelia in the antapex region have been discovered in the Southern Hemisphere. It is established that there is no concentration of long-period perihelia for comets discovered in the Southern Hemisphere and that the observed extrema in the perihelion distribution for short-period comets are real.
