The observation of the transient X-ray pulsar GRS 0834-430 with the SIGMA hard X-ray imaging telescope in December 1991 is reported. The source was detected for the first time in the 35-75 keV energy band. The 5 arc minute positioning accuracy achieved for this source allows us to associate undoubtedly our detection with the soft X-ray source GRS 0834-430.
