The Nearby Supernova Factory reports the discovery of SNF20050519-000 (coordinates RA 21:35:52.5 DEC -26:27:03.5 J2000.0) in an image obtained May 19.5 UT with the QUEST II camera on the Palomar Oschin 48-inch telescope as a part of the JPL Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking component of the Palomar Consortium. A spectrum (range 320-1000 nm) of this object, obtained May 24.6 with the Supernova Integral Field Spectrograph on the University of Hawaii 2.2-meter telescope, shows it to be a Type Ia SN approximately three weeks past maximum brightness.
