Based on observations obtained by the Nancay radiotelescope, nine strong IRAS sources have been identified as extragalactic OH megamasers. The efficiency of the far-infrared radiation is shown to depend on the radial velocity spread within the molecular clouds. The 1.667-MHz OH line luminosity is found to be proportional to the square of the far-infrared luminosity, supporting the scenario of maser pumping by far-infrared radiation.
