An unusual superflare star was discovered in Aquarius during the observation of comet 6P/d'Arrest on the night of 6/7 August 1995, when the comet occulted this star. UBV(RI)_c_ photometry was applied using the 1 metre RCC telescope of Konkoly Observatory equipped with a Peltier-cooled CCD camera. The images taken on 6/7 August and on 16/17 September 1995 demonstrate that obviously a new star-like object was observed, which cannot be found on any optical sky surveys made before. The conclusion is that this is a superflare star with a major outburst rather than a nova because there are more arguments supporting this idea: rapid fall of brightness and the observed reddish colour. It would be important to perform deep-sky observations with large telescopes as with the Hubble Space Telescope to study this object in more detail.
