A radio burst in one individual component of the integrated pulse of a radio pulsar has been detected for the first time. The burst was observed in the 102.5-MHz emission of PSR B0643+80 during one of 24 days of observations. The flux in the central component of the three-component profile was a factor of nine higher than its mean value. Differences between this phenomenon and other well-known effects, such as mode switching and the appearance of giant pulses, are discussed.
