This paper deals with the development of hardware data-processing techniques for rotational-synthesis observations using the direct transform approach. An approach is described in relation to a prototype system for processing east-west synthesis data from the Fleurs Synthesis Telescope. This approach is directly applicable to other east-west synthesis arrays, or with modifications for any array. It is also applicable to computerized axial tomography and holographic processing.
