Details are given of a direct reading d.c. arc spectrochemical procedure for the determination in geochemical samples of the elements B, Be, Cr, Cu, La, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sn, V, Y and Zr in amounts down to 1 ppm. Automatic background and matrix corrections are achieved by complementary buffering and exposure to constant background. A coefficient of variation of better than ± 5% of the element content is normally attained.
