The present conference on digital image synthesis and inverse optics encompasses mathematical techniques for inverse problems, profile inversion and microscopy, multidimensional inverse scattering and imaging, medical imaging, impedance and microwave tomography, astronomical speckle imaging, image synthesis from higher-order intensity correlations, and deconvolution and phase retrieval. Specific issues addressed include an axiomatic approach to certain inverse problems, holographic and superresolution imaging, profile inversion via successive overrelaxation, microwave holographic metrology for antenna diagnosis, an optical control model for impedance tomography, and stellar image reconstruction by computationally efficient triple correlation. Also addressed are weighted least-squares phase reconstruction from the bispectrum, satellite imaging with speckle interferometry, a slicing approach to bispectrum estimation, shear speckle imaging, image reconstruction using the phase-variance algorithm, and the noncoplanar baselines effect in interferometry.
