Results of calculations of IMF diffusion from supersonic solar wind flow
into the earth magnetosphere are reported. The theoretical penetration
coefficient of the y-component of the IMF into the magnetotail is
consistent with experimental data. The model predicts a penetration
coefficient of 0.1-0.15 for the subsolar point of the magnetosphere.
