A formalism allowing the reduction of the Fokker-Planck equation in phase space to a simple diffusion equation in the space of the invariants and cyclic variables of the unperturbed motion is explained and applied to the diffusion of cyclotronic motions by Alfven waves and to the diffusion of Keplerian motion by a stochastic force. The method avoids the second order calculations necessary to obtain the friction terms and makes the diffusion coefficients easier to compute.
