The possible role of diffusion in the observed morphology and spectral index distribution of radio galaxies is investigated. If the synchrotron-emitting electrons are accelerated at a moving point source, and then diffuse freely into inifinite space, structures similar to observed radio lobes are produced. Model predictions for the radio galaxies DA 240 and 3C236 agree reasonably well with observations. The estimated diffusion coefficients are compared with those proposed for other types of objects.
