An algorithm is developed for calculating the radial profile of the Bz component of the IMF above the equator in the lower magnetosphere according to measurements of energetic particles directly above the ionosphere. Calculations show that the proposed approach can be used for the diagnostics of the configuration of the magnetospheric magnetic field in the plasma sheet.
