A new sighting device was developed for the ITS-7, based on a silicon
photodiode array with 256 sensitive elements. The device has been shown
to be optimal for measuring the coordinates of the moon or sun with an
accuracy of up to 1 arcmin. The reliability of the device has been
confirmed by in-orbit operation in the course of four years.
