The Cambridge optical aperture synthesis telescope (COAST) is a four
element interferometer which measures visibility amplitudes and
closure-phases. It produced its first images in 1995 and is now in a
complete form, very similar to the original conception. In this paper we
discuss the design and current status of the interferometer.
