An effort has been undertaken at UNM to upgrade the Astronomy 101 labs from a pencil-and-paper sequence to an online package, thereby taking advantage of the dynamic resources available when developing online content. Although the labs are not taught in conjunction with a 101-level lecture course, they have proven to be an effective vehicle for bringing astronomy education to anyone with a computer and a connection to the internet. The labs were identified as an excellent starting point for the development of a similar course at Dine College, an institution which is located within, and operated by, the Navajo Nation. These courses, and the initial work on an online lecture course, are presented.
The work presented has been funded by UNM's Department of Physics & Astronomy, the LodeStar Project, and NASA grant NAG 5-10254.
