Soterem, supported by Sermat, has been selected in 2002 by CNES to become a space DC brushless motor supplier. This paper presents the technological actions which have been initated in order to develop a family of high torque motors: it describes the followed approach to adapt the existing aeronautic processes up to space qualified ones. A representative motor has been designed, manufactured and tested to validate the new production line.
