The work being done on a 1-m, normal-incidence, EUV telescope that will be flown on an Aries rocket to observe the spectra of nearby stars in the 350-700 mm range is surveyed. It is noted that the choice of the focal ratio and of the overall length was dictated by aerodynamic considerations and by the dimensions of the Space Shuttle pallet system, it being proposed to refly the instrument on the Shuttle. The weight of the mirror is 153 kg. The tests carried out to ascertain whether osmium or iridium would prove the better reflectivity are described.
