A new method is described for calculating the dead time of pulse-counting photoelectric photometers and reticon systems. This technique uses hydrogen-alpha or hydrogen-beta filters, and is superior to previous methods because it may be used with daylight or with artificial indoor light under non-photometric skies. This method is then successfully applied to data obtained at Table Mountain Observatory.
