A description is given of an observational program conducted at the astronomical observatory at Darmstadt, West Germany. The program had the objective to investigate aspects of Venus dichotomy and to study the dependence of the results on instrumental factors and the general observational conditions. The measurements were carried out exclusively by day. Approaches designed to keep the observational errors as low as possible are discussed along with difficulties which had to be overcome in the exact determination of dichotomy times. An electronic computer was employed in the evaluation of the measured data.
