Astrometry: Vlbi Baseline Determination, Terrestrial Reference Frame

Scientific paper

Using the changing rates of baseline lengths Shanghai and 13 international VLBI stations localed at 6 different tectonic plates determined during the past ten years, basing on the recent international terrestrial reference frame ITRF97, the vertical and horizontal deformation rate of Shanghai VLBI station relative to the stable area of the Eurasian tectonic plate are estimated as-1.91±0.56mm/yr and 11.07. ±0.95mm/yr with its local AZ 96°.3±3°.1; By using the same way as above, the vertical deformation rate of Kashima and Kashima34 VLBI station are obtained as -3.72±0.74mm/yr and -8.81±0.84mm/yr, respectively, which show that two VLBI stations localed at Kashima of Japan have the different vertical deformation fate and differ from the result -4.76±0.48mm/yr given by ITRF97 for this two stations. In addition, the horizontal deformation rates of the three VLBI stations above are estimated based on the different tectonic plate motion model; the deformation rate of the center part of the Pacific tectonic plate is also estimated.
