The value of the partial inelasticity coefficient was determined from comparison of velocity distributions of neutral pions from gamma families, generated in a target. Distributions were compared for event groups with unknown E-0 and events with energies determined from an ionization chamber, operating in tandem with an X-ray emulsion chamber. A value of 0.7 is obtained for the coefficient.
